As I mentioned in a previous article, the buttons on the top navigation bar weren't yet working, or worse: they weren't even visible on mobile (or portrait)! Well, that issue is no more. Check out the new hamburger menu (without any actual hamburgers, sorry)!
What's New?
-
Hamburger Menu: The addition of a hamburger menu means that you can now access all the essential features of the website with just a tap. It neatly organizes the navigation options, keeping the navigation bar uncluttered, thus making navigation on mobile less overwhelming.
-
Minor design changes:
- As you can see right on the left of this sentence, the marker of bullet lists has been changed from a circle to a diamond.
- Neater homepage, now with gradients.
- Some font changes, again.
- Other front-end tweaks.
-
For the nerds:
- Changed the loading of news articles from using JavaScript to using PHP.
- Embeds (they don't support thumbnails yet, but try sharing and see for yourself!).
- Other back-end tweaks.
How to Use the Hamburger Menu
If this isn't your first time using the internet on your phone, I assume you already know how it works. However, I will explain it anyway, for the sake of filling up the page with text so that it looks more professional.
- Look for the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner of the navbar.
- Tap on the icon to reveal the menu.
- Admire the transition from the three lines to the X, on which I worked for one whole hour.
- Explore the vast array of options currently available (a whopping two, as of the 23rd of December 2023, the date of this update).
Stay tuned!
This update is the last before an indefinite break from the development of this website. Some other projects are nearing completion.
